Carers Trust welcomes the Alzheimers Society GP survey which highlights the reliance on unpaid carers for the lions share of support for people with dementia

Carers Trust calls on health and social care professionals to ensure they identify, include, inform and support carers of people with dementia through the long and complex journey of caring.

Carer’s Trust’s “Making the Road Less Rocky” and the “Triangle of Care” resources demonstrate how and when professionals can identify, inform and support carers of people with dementia.

Dr Moira Fraser, Director of Policy and Research said: “Carers of people with dementia have told us of the impact that caring can have on their own health and wellbeing. Many are unprepared and uninformed about what the future holds and who can support them. We are calling on GPs and other health professionals to ensure carers are referred to support services in a timely fashion and given the appropriate information they need to prepare for the future.”
