Carers Trust reacts to ADASS report: 'social care funding is in crisis'

Dr Moira Fraser, director of policy and research for Carers Trust, said:

“Today’s ADASS report sadly confirms what we already know: social care funding is in crisis. We welcome moves to integrate health and social care, but this will not fix everything.

“More needs to be done to support all unpaid carers. The Care Act, for the first time, puts carers on an equal footing to the people they care for. However, without additional funding for social care, carers will still not receive the necessary support. The government must grasp the nettle and commit to more funding for social care.

“The lives and wellbeing of carers and the people they care for depend on it.”
