Commenting on the outcome of the general election, Gail Scott-Spicer, Chief Executive of Carers Trust, said:

“On behalf of Carers Trust, thank you to all our supporters and members who campaigned with us during this election to get the issues that matter to carers of all ages on to the political agenda. It’s thanks to you that over 300 candidates took a pledge to push the next government to adopt the policies that could make a real difference to the lives of carers: increasing investment in social care, providing joined-up services, and making it a legal duty on the NHS to identify carers and ensure they get the support they need and deserve.

“Our job now is to ensure the Conservative Party and all new MPs keep their commitments to carers. We are looking forward to working with the new Conservative government and all politicians in the new parliament to deliver the policies that will mean every carer has the chance to lead a happy and fulfilling life.”
