Catapult appoints new non-executive directors

Five new non-executive directors have been appointed to the Connected Digital Economy Catapult board, with wide-ranging experience in big data, academia, telecoms and games.

The five new board members are:

Laura Shesgreen, a former CFO of Skype who has worked in a series of successful start-ups

Chris van der Kuyl, the founder of brightsolid, the owners of Friends Reunited. He is one of Scotland's leading entrepreneurs and is Professor of Digital Entertainment at the University of Abertay Dundee

David Docherty, who has worked for the BBC and Telewest, and is a successful author. He is CEO of the National Centre for Universities and Business

Professor Dame Wendy Hall from Southampton University, a world-renowned expert in areas such as advanced web technologies, digital libraries and human computer interaction. She has published over 400 papers and was the first non-American to be elected President of the Association of Computing Machinery

Ian Baverstock – an angel investor, founder of Tenshi ventures and a successful entrepreneur. As well as being a past president of TIGA he has valuable experience from the Creative Industries Knowledge Transfer Network.

They will join existing non-executive board members Warren East and Nick Appleyard, Chief Executive Neil Crockett and Chairman Andy Green.
Commenting on the appointments Andy Green said: “I couldn't be more excited at the prospect of working with this diverse and talented group of people. We have worked hard to bring together a team with a wide variety of backgrounds, and we are all united by the desire to help UK based entrepreneurs grow successfully and help ignite the UK economy.
