Could you give a ‘senior kit-izen’ a special retirement home?
Blue Cross pet charity in Northiam is appealing for happy retirement homes for two OAP cats who need extra-special homes because they are also blind.
Moggies Betty and Poppy are not only in their twilight years – aged around 13 - but both cats also have limited vision, so are looking for indoor homes where they can spend the rest of their days safely relaxing and enjoying their home comforts.
Long-haired tortoiseshell Betty was found as a stray and is completely blind. Despite her disability, Betty has started to move around as she has become used to the cattery - although she does bump into things from time to time. She also comes when you call her name.
Carolyn Pierce, Animal Welfare Assistant at Northiam Blue Cross says: “Betty is a sweet girl who has had a tough time as a stray, so she is quite nervous but determined. She seems to find it reassuring when we talk to her and is slowly gaining more confidence.”
Tabby cat Poppy is blind in one eye after suffering an injury, but she doesn’t let it hold her back.
Carolyn said: “Poppy is a much more independent girl, but she’s not keen on cattery life at all – and after over 100 days here waiting for a new home, who can blame her? She’s much happier and more sociable in a home environment, so we really hope she finds her new owners really soon.”
Poppy and Betty are both looking for homes where they can live a quiet life as the only pet. If you think you could offer either of them their ‘purr-fect’ retirement home, contact Blue Cross Northiam on 0300 777 1510 or visit www.bluecross.org.uk to find out more.
