Ensuring care works paid new Living Wage is 'impossible' without Treasury support

Carers Trust

Responding to warnings over the 'deeping crisis' of the care sector, Dr Moira Fraser, Director of Policy and Research at the charity Carers Trust said:

“Today care providers wrote to the Treasury with an urgent call for increased funding for social care. Carers Trust shares these concerns about funding and, though we wish to ensure valued care workers are paid the new Living Wage, many providers will find it impossible to do so unless the Treasury pledges to give them more support this November. We urge the Government to fund local authorities at a level which enables high quality care providers to survive. ”
