Minister backs online community advice hub
Community Development Foundation
A new website that provides information on community activities has been welcomed by a DCLG minister.
Just Act (
www.justact.org.uk) uses a combination of crowd-sourced content, links to other websites and a forum where people can chat and ask questions.
It is managed by the
Community Development Foundation(CDF), a charity and the leading community development organisation in the country. The website is supported by the Government and a whole range of well known national community organisations.
Communities Minister Stephen Williams said:
"I am delighted to see the launch of Just Act. We want to see all communities use the opportunities we have provided to step up and take control and finding the right help and resources is absolutely key.
"I hope that communities and individuals all over the country will use Just Act to help them start their own journey towards greater activism and control of local issues."
The site is aimed at people who may not think of themselves as "community activists" but want to start a community project and want some help and advice.
It is also for people and organisations that are already active in their local community who might want to expand their group, find new resources or funding to help them run their project or organisation more efficiently.
Local community groups all over the country tested Just Act. and have uploaded content and reviewed resources that are on the site.
The site is also recruiting Community Champions who will help answer questions on the forum and who will be from all over the country.
