NAO report on Care Act - Carers Trust calls for more evidence

Carers Trust

Dr Moira Fraser, Director of Policy and Research, Carers Trust responding to the National Audit Office report on: Care Act first-phase reform says:

“Carers Trust welcomes the NAO’s report, but we still need to know if carers are getting access to assessments and support. Without evidence of what exactly local authorities are doing in implementing the Care Act we cannot assess if carers are feeling the benefits of new rights. It was this principle which made the Care Act such a welcoming prospect for carers.

“Carers Trust is calling on the government and local authorities to invest in social care services to ensure carers are not denied their basic rights to support.”
