New appointments this week in UK politics, the civil service and public affairs

House of Lords
Lord Skelmersdale (Conservative, Hereditary Peer) died on 2nd November, a by-election to replace him will be held in due course.
Lord Heywood of Whitehall (Non-affiliated, Life Peer) died on 4th November.
House of Commons
Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments - Derek Twigg discharged and Jessica Morden added as a member.
Regulatory Reform Committee – Jeremy Quin discharged and Ben Bradley added as a member.
Transport Committee - Iain Stewart discharged and Robert Courts added as a member.
Government departments:
Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport
Mims Davies appointed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Sport and Civil Society (formerly Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Wales and Assistant Government Whip).
Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art - Pippa Shirley appointed as a member.
Wales Office
Nigel Adams appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Wales Office and Assistant Government Whip. (formerly temporary support Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government and Government Whip).
Whips Office
Jeremy Quin appointed as Government Whip. (formerly Assistant Government Whip).
Gareth Johnson appointed as Assistant Government Whip (formerly PPS to Dominic Raab)
Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Charles Hay has been appointed British High Commissioner to Malaysia, from April.
Jeff Glekin has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Plurinational State of Bolivia in succession to James Thornton, from January.
Department for International Trade
UK Export Finance - Kimberly Wiehl joins the Board as a Non-Executive Adviser.
Ministry of Defence
Glenn Haughton appointed as the first Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chiefs of Staff Committee.
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Natural England – Marian Spain appointed as interim Chief Executive, replacing James Cross.

Kirsten Oswald replaced Derek Mackay as Business Convener.

National Assembly for Wales
Scrutiny of the First Minister Committee - Llyr Gruffydd appointed as a member.

Livestock and Meat Commission - Gerry Maguire reappointed as a member.
Charities Advisory Committee - Lindsay Todd, David Murphy and Jeremy Stewart reappointed as members.
Board of the Arts Council NI - Siún Hanrahan and Leon Litvack reappointed as members.

Harlow Council – Jodi Dunne elected for Bush Fair – Labour hold. (Ian Beckett resigned).
Harlow Council – Shannon Jezzard elected for Nettleswell – Labour hold. (Waida Forman resigned).
Ealing Council – Mohinda Kaur Midha elected for Dormers Wells – Labour hold. (Tej Ram Bagha died).
Torridge Council – Jon Hutchings elected for Holsworthy – Conservative hold. (Ken Carroll died).
