New Board Appointments for the Future Cities Catapult Announced
Professor Rachel Cooper, Emma Howard Boyd, Gaétan Siew, and Mark Spelman have been appointed as Non-Executive Directors of the Future Cities Catapult.
They join Sir David King (Chair), Peter Madden (CEO) and Richard Miller (Technology Strategy Board representative) on the board.
The Future Cities Catapult is an independent innovation centre. It has been set up to help firms create the systems and infrastructure to run cities well, and then sell these to the rest of the world, thus capturing a significant portion of the £50bn global market for integrated city systems.
The new board members will assist in bringing together academia, business, innovators and cities to enable a joined-up citywide approach to urban innovation.
Sir David King, Chair of the Future Cities Catapult said:
“To meet the needs of cities now and in the future, it is essential we collaborate. Our board mirrors our work – bringing together innovators, businesses, cities and academia to work collaboratively on creating high value, cutting edge urban solutions. Gaetan, Rachel, Mark and Emma represent the best thinking across crucial fields in the future city space and we are delighted to have them join us.”
Simon Edmonds, Director of the Catapult Programme, said:
“These excellent appointments will play a crucial role in helping Sir David and Chief Executive Peter Madden to drive forward the development of the Future Cities Catapult. Their expertise in a wide range of fields will be invaluable, and I look forward to further appointments to the board later in the year.”
The current seven board members will be joined by three more in the autumn.
