Response to the LGA study on budget cuts

Independent Age

In response to the LGA study on budget cuts, Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, said:

“Care for the elderly and disabled is the single largest item of expenditure for most councils, so any further cuts to local authority funding are likely to further affect these vital, but already-underfunded, services. Not only is this a tragedy for the people affected - some of the most vulnerable in our society - but also a false economy since many of the problems created will simply lead to more attendance at GP surgeries and hospital AE departments.”
