The Gorgeous Kitchen at Heathrows Terminal 2 has been awarded, out of 35 of the best restaurants at airports worldwide as the number one.

The ranking was compiled by The Daily Meal, along with CNN, Conde Nast Traveller and Travel Channel.

Four British female chefs, Gee Charman, Sophie Mitchell, Jo Pratt and Caroline Mi Li Artiss have created a unique all-day dining experience exclusive to Terminal 2 which boasts a wholesome and seasonal menu.  From kedgeree or a full English breakfast in the mornings, crab with lemon mayonnaise sandwiches or wheat-free pistachio cake for afternoon tea, or pea and mint soup with crème fraiche and pea shoots or pan-fried sea bass with sautéed leeks and garlic cream sauce for lunch or dinner, at The Gorgeous Kitchen there’s a range of light modern dishes.

Gee Charman: “It's so exciting to be recognised for putting great food into an airport environment. A visit to The Gorgeous Kitchen really is a great start to a holiday or business trip where good food rules the day. What an honour to be named as the best airport restaurant in the world.”

Jo Pratt: “I'm absolutely overjoyed that The Gorgeous Kitchen has been named as the best airport restaurant in the world. We're all very proud of our restaurant and it's amazing to see that the hard work and dedication of the whole team is being recognised. It's very important to us that our customers can be given a memorable experience before flying and receiving this award is proving that we are achieving our aim.”

Caroline Artiss: “I couldn’t be prouder of all the hard work put in by everyone on The Gorgeous Kitchen Team. To have this recognition is truly an honour and we all aim to provide our customers with an incredible experience before starting their journeys.”

“We are very proud to have been recognized as the best airport restaurant in the world. The Gorgeous Kitchen is a welcome addition to the airport environment. The intimate design, the exhibition cooking, and innovative menu complement the impeccable and warm hospitality, all blending to create a one-of-a-kind journey for the travellers at Heathrow Terminal 2” said Walter Seib, CEO of HMSHost International.

Specialising in beautiful global cuisine made utilising British-grown produce, The Gorgeous Kitchen is a quality spot to the airport dining scene at the Queen’s Terminal at Heathrow, serving quick, wholesome and seasonal dishes throughout the day in an elegant and contemporary space.

With an open theatre kitchen, counter dining, banquette seating and sweeping airfield views to match the subtle halo lighting and textured interior palette that is lifted with copper accents, the 120-cover restaurant offers a sanctuary for Terminal 2’s departing passengers, inviting business men and women, families and solo travellers alike.
