Westmead purchase makes hotel owners’ dreams come true
The owners of the Westmead Hotel in Hopwood, Birmingham, are fulfilling their lifetime ambition with the purchase of the freehold to the hotel they have been running for the past three years, backed by a £1.6 million finance package from Santander Corporate Commercial and supported by funding from the European Investment Bank.
The family-run business, founded by husband and wife team Ben and Jessy Panesar, will now gain full control of the hotel giving them autonomy to develop the business to best benefit their customers and the local community.
The three-star hotel boasts 56 rooms, four of which are ‘feature’ rooms housed in the original 200 year-old main building; a wide range of meeting, training and conference rooms suitable for all types of events and exhibitions; 65-cover restaurant; and lounge bar. The hotel also holds its own wedding licence.
Ben Panesar, hotel owner, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us and we are delighted to have been able to purchase the freehold to this great hotel. We are thrilled by the opportunities this will open up for us, and are excited to start developing the hotel, its services and surrounding land so that we can better meet the needs of our customers and grow the business.”
