Jeremy Corbyn: I am a radicalised centrist dad

Jeremy Corbyn has said he is a “radicalised centrist dad” – but insisted he has never compromised on his beliefs since becoming Labour leader.
In an interview with GQ magazine the party leader was asked about the description given by his supporters to middle-aged moderates who they argue are struggling to accept the change in the party.
“I’m a centrist dad,” he insisted. “Radicalised!”
But asked whether he has watered down his principles since becoming Labour boss two years ago, he said: “We have had some problems, as everybody well knows, and I have not always had my own way.
"On the Syria vote, for instance, I didn’t have my own way. But I was not prepared to countenance the bombing of Syria, so I did what I did."
Elsewhere in the interview, Mr Corbyn said he was eager to meet Donald Trump and work with the US president if he becomes Prime Minister.
“I look forward to meeting him and I hope we can work together to deal with the crucial issues faced in the world,” he said.
“On environment and climate change, on refugees, and on a longer trajectory for peace.”
This morning GQ editor Dylan Jones lifted the lid on the “tortuous” process of getting the Labour leader on the magazine's front cover.
Mr Jones said the Labour leader refused to be interviewed by New Labour grandee Alastair Campbell and was unable to name a film he had seen in the past year.
He also claimed Mr Corbyn was "pushed around like a grandpa for the family Christmas photograph" by his advisers.
But hitting back, a source close to the Labour leader told PoliticsHome: "Dylan Jones supports the Tories and he wasn't at the shoot or the interview."
