Labour MP facing retrial after jury fails to reach verdict on allegations she lied to police

A Labour MP will face a retrial after a jury failed to reach a verdict on whether she lied to police over a speeding offence.
Peterborough MP Fiona Onasanya had denied a single charge of perverting the course of justice by blaming a third party.
It was alleged that she had claimed Aleks Antipow was behind the wheel of her car to escape prosecution for a July 2017 speeding offence.
A jury of six men and five women at the Old Bailey today failed to deliver a verdict after more than 12 hours of deliberation, meaning Ms Onasanya’s case must now be retried.
Her brother, Festus, also admitted to three counts of the same offence and was due to be sentenced at the conclusion of her trial.
Ms Onasaya joined the Labour benches after last year's general election, where she defeated the Conservatives' Stewart Jackson by just 607 votes.
The MP's office has been approached for comment.
