Embedding the Mortgage Market Review: Advice and Distribution

The Building Societies Association welcomes the educational approach of the Financial Conduct Authoritys thematic review on the quality of mortgage advice following the introduction of the Mortgage Market Review.

Paul Broadhead, Head of Mortgage Policy at the BSA, commented:

“This is the first review of its kind to assess the mortgage advice provided by both intermediaries and lenders. I welcome the educational and forward looking approach that the FCA has taken with clear examples of what good practice looks like.

“For the vast majority of consumers their mortgage remains the biggest single financial transaction of their lives, which is why getting the advice process spot on is so vitally important.”
