Honorary CIOB fellowship awarded to Dame Judith Hackitt
Dame Judith Hackitt has been presented with an Honorary Fellowship of The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) at a graduation ceremony in London this morning (Friday 3 December 2021).
Dame Hackitt authored the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety in 2018 following the Grenfell Tower fire. This influential piece of legislation has already driven significant policy changes, including the establishment of the new Building Safety Regulator and the Building Safety Bill, currently making its way through Parliament.
Dame Judith is already a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

Dame Judith is the first woman to receive an honorary fellowship from CIOB, a fact which surprised me, and I trust she is the first of many women in our industry to be recognised in this way for their significant contributions.”
