Industrial strategy - Innovate UK comment from chief executive Dr Ruth McKernan
Dr Ruth McKernan, chief executive of the government’s innovation agency, Innovate UK has commented on the Government's launch of the industrial strategy green paper.
“Every day we engage with businesses all over the country seeing the potential of innovation and enterprise. The new Industrial Strategy challenge fund is already creating excitement and should help transform great technologies into business growth right across the UK.
“We are already having an excellent conversation with businesses and scientists through a series of regional workshops. We are listening carefully to their views on how the cross-disciplinary fund can support industry. Most reassuringly, we see unique strengths in different parts of the UK.
“As the business-facing part of UK Research and Innovation, we will work very closely with the research councils to make sure this fund unlocks the full economic potential of our world-leading science base. We want businesses to look up and out and to create more skilled jobs nationwide.”
