New appointments this week in UK politics, the civil service and public affairs

Houses of Parliament:
House of Lords
Lord Triesman, Lord Darzi and Lord Turnberg have resigned the Labour party whip over
claims of antisemitism within the party.
House of Commons
Electoral Commission – Rob Vincent reappointed as an electoral commissioner.
Government Departments:
Cabinet Office
Government Automation Taskforce – Ian Dalton CBE appointed as Executive Chair, the position begins on the 8th July.
Sir Kim Darroch, ambassador of the United Kingdom to the United States has resigned.
Foreign and Commonwealth Office
H.E. Dr Arman Kirakossian, ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United Kingdom, has passed away.
Mr Nicholas Woolley succeeds Mr Fergus Cochrane-Dyet OBE as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Zambia.
Mr Mockbul Ali OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Dominion Republic and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Haiti.
Mr Steven Fisher has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The appointment begins in September.
Home Office
Office of the Immigrations Services Commissioner - John Tuckett appointed Immigration Services Commissioner.
Department for Education
Student Loans Company – Adam Treslove appointed Head of Corporate Affairs.
Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
Financial Reporting Council – Simon Dingemans has been named as the government’s preferred candidate to the post of Chair.
Nuclear Decommissioning Authority – Chief Executive of Sellafield Ltd Paul Foster will step down from the role in January 2020.
Northern Ireland Office
Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland – Vilma Patterson appointed as member. The appointment lasts five years, ending on the 30th June 2024.
Department for International Trade
Dr Liam Fox MP announced the creation of an Australasia HM Trade Commissioner.
Local Authorities:
By-election Results 11th July
East Riding – Mike Heslop-Mullins elected for Bridlington North – Liberal Democrat gain (caused by the death of Conservative councillor Richard Harrap).
Herefordshire – Dave Boulter elected for Whitecross – It’s Our County hold (caused by the disqualification of It’s Our County councillor Sue Boulter).

Royal College of Midwives – Sascha Wells, Neil Tomlin, Dee Davies, Keelie Barrett, Janet Ballentine and Sarah Jones have joined the RCM board, their roles begin on the 1st September. Natalie Linder has been re-elected to the board.
Trade Association
NHS Providers – Sir Ron Kerr will take over as Chair from Dame Gill Morgan on the 1st January 2020.

Point of Care Foundation – Richard Smith appointed as chair.
