New cross-sector task force to improve women’s resilience to risk
Senior leaders from across the insurance profession are joining forces to improve women’s resilience to risk. The new task force is being formed as part of the Insuring Women’s Futures (IWF) programme and will develop new and innovative solutions to the risks that women face in life.
IWF is a programme of change led by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to improving the sector’s knowledge of women’s risks, the representation of women at every level of the profession and access to solutions to those risks.
This new task force will focus on three key areas:
- Improving awareness among women of the risks they face in life and engagement with the existing solutions
- Developing joined-up policy interventions
- Identifying new and improved insurance solutions to women's risks.
The task force will concentrate on setting the priorities for positive change and galvanising the profession into action. It will work in conjunction with a number of working groups that will look at tactical activity to drive change, facilitated by the CII.
The task force comprises the following senior representatives:

Sian Fisher, Chief Executive Officer of the CII, commented: “Women today are increasingly left high and dry as the daily pressure of modern life rises, while the historic support systems recede. It's a problem that affects men too, but to a lesser extent. This new task force will collaborate to drive real change for the benefit of society, helping to raise awareness and engagement among women of the risks they face in life, and how our profession can empower them to improve their resilience.”
Inga Beale, Patron of the IWF programme, CEO of Lloyd’s and President of the CII commented: “Women are less engaged with insurance protection products and services than men, and as a consequence are under-protected. That is a risk for society, not just for women. This new task force will bring together expertise in a range of areas to work with the insurance profession to address this issue and drive real change.”
