Response to the Home Office announcement made today.

Chief Constable Mike Cunningham, CEO of the College of Policing, the professional body for police, said:

“Today’s funding announcement is a much needed positive step towards addressing the financial challenges faced by all forces.

“It is clear that policing requires additional funding to allow forces to support their workforce, and keep the public safe.  Policing’s greatest strength has always been its people and they deserve investment in their development as they tackle increasing demand and complexity of crime.

“We will continue to work with the service to evidence its capability, efficiency and productivity to ensure the best outcome at the next comprehensive spending review.”
