The winners of International Safety Awards 2019 are announced
The British Safety Council has revealed the winners of its prestigious 2019 International Safety Awards, which recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have shown a true dedication to keeping their workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2018 calendar year.
This year, 507 organisations of all sizes and sectors won an International Safety Award, including businesses from the UK, Africa, Asia, India, mainland Europe and the Middle East. 56 organisations were awarded a distinction, 248 were awarded a merit and 203 organisations achieved a pass.

This requires more than legislation but people committed to health and safety, and increasingly also to workplace wellbeing. By celebrating the achievements of the 507 winners of the 2019 International Safety Awards and 61 years of improving health and safety standards around the world, we encourage other organisations to follow their lead and place employees’ health and safety at the heart of their business.”

The winners are drawn from various industry sectors. They include construction and housebuilding companies, such as Kier Construction, London; Multiplex Middle East, Jumeirah Gate Project Dubai, and VolkerRail Ltd, Doncaster; engineering and manufacturing businesses, such as Airbus Operation Ltd, Filton; BAE Systems Naval Ships, Glasgow, and Texas Instruments, Greenock; transport, distribution and logistics companies, such as Royal Mail Group – Stansted Airport; Nobia UK Darlington Logistics, and Vroon Offshore Services Ltd, Aberdeen; and oil and mining companies, such as Kuwait Oil Company Export & Marine Fields, Ahmadi; Malaysian Refining Company SDN BHD, Melaka, and Indian Oil Corporation Limited-Rajkot Depot.
The leisure and hospitality sector is also well represented with winners such as Arsenal Football Club, Emirates Flight Catering, Dubai and Muscat International Airport, Muscat.
International winners include China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp; Kuwait National Petroleum Company - Head Office, GardaWorld International Protective Services, Dubai, and Qatar Railways Company's Depot South, Qatar.
Celebrate at the International Safety Awards Gala Dinner, Friday 5 April 2019
Mike Robinson added: “I look forward to celebrating the success of the International Safety Award winners at our International Safety Awards Gala Dinner, which will be held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on the night of Friday 5 April 2019.
“The black-tie event will be hosted by Alistair Campbell, writer and communications expert, best known for his former role as Tony Blair’s spokesman and press secretary. It will feature a formal presentation of the awards, a fine dining experience and an evening of live entertainment and dancing.”
