John Ashmore

2 min read

Labour MP Steve McCabe is nursing facial injuries after a motorcyclist threw a brick at him while he was out in his constituency.

The MP for Birmingham Selly Oak tweeted an image of his face following the incident, saying he was "nursing a very sore and swollen face" following the incident.

He said he had given police a full statement about the attack.

Mr McCabe also posted a photo of his alleged assailants, urging members of the public to help identify them.

Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner was among fellow parliamentarians to express their sympathy, as was the Tory chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Tom Tugendhat.
