Theresa May: I enjoy being Prime Minister

Theresa May has insisted she enjoys being Prime Minister and does not feel threatened by attempts to undermine her position.
The embattled party leader dismissed speculation over whether she can hold on to the top job amid growing disquiet in the Tory ranks over her leadership.
She made the comments as she appeared on ITV’s This Morning to discuss children’s mental health and an anti-bullying campaign promoted by the programme.
Pressed on whether she enjoys holding the top job, she replied: "Yes... Yes. It’s because, throughout my life whenever I’ve taken jobs on, I’ve never kind of thought ‘oh it’s going to be like this or like that’, it’s 'get on and do it'."
Asked if she imagined the job would be as it is, she added: "There are huge issues to be dealing with, but it’s worthwhile…"
Presenter Philip Schofield asked her: "When you see the words 'beleaguered', 'hanging on by a thread', 'loss of power', don't you spend a lot of your time instead of looking forward, looking behind you to see who's about to stab you in the back?”
But Mrs May insisted: "No. For me it’s actually all about what I’m doing to deliver for the public.
"That’s why I was on doorsteps in my own constituency on Saturday afternoon talking to people, hearing about the issues that really matter to them. That’s what drives me, that’s what politics is about."
Pushed on whether she could “hang on”, the PM responded: "Yes, I’m doing a job, and I’m going to jolly well get on and do it.
"What drives me in doing it is actually not what’s written, but what people out there want the Government to do. That’s the important thing.”
Mrs May added that in her spare time she can “never get to the end of a box set” and that she is “constantly” thinking about the job in hand.
"It’s a job where you’re constantly thinking about it and obviously anything can happen at any point that means you have to really be involved," she explained.
"But you know, I enjoy thinks like cooking and walking and so forth."
