Theresa May takes a swipe at BBC for asking her question about Brexit

2 min read

Theresa May has taken a swipe at the BBC after she was asked a question about Brexit.

The Prime Minister made the jibe as she took questions from journalists following a speech on the Government's plans to boost housebuilding.

After being asked by BBC political correspondent Vicki Young for more details on the UK's withdrawal from the EU, Mrs May said: "Being the BBC, of course you are always going to get Brexit into the question."

She said she had set out her Brexit approach in her speech at London's Mansion House last Friday.

"I was very clear that one of the elements that we will be looking at as part of our future economic partnership with the European Union is a partnership on financial services," she said.

"Indeed we want to cover other service areas, these are important areas for the UK. The role that the City of London plays is not just important for us, it’s important for the whole of the European Union."

Vicki Young made light of the incident on Twitter.

The clash came after the Prime Minister urged developers to "do their duty to Britain" as part of government efforts to increase housing supply.
