Our Work: Animal Sentience

Humane Society International UK

1 min read

Since 2017 we have co-led an alliance of 50 of the country’s leading animal protection organisations, united in calling for a #BetterDealForAnimals following Brexit. Our core campaign ask is for the UK to enshrine in law recognition of animal sentience, and a duty to take animals’ welfare needs into account when making and implementing policies. We welcome the introduction of the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Bill in May 2021 and are working with Peers, MPs and Defra to ensure that the Bill is strengthened to ensure it delivers meaningful impact for animals.
