We produce a wide variety of publications to keep veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses up to date on RCVS issues, and to inform the public about the veterinary profession and the College’s role as regulator.

They can be downloaded or ordered from the RCVS website and include:

RCVS News, our official newsletter for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, which we publish three times a year in March, June and November.

RCVS Review, which forms part one of our annual report. It presents a personalised account of what we have been doing during the year and seeks to outline in more detail just a few of our major activities, through the eyes of those who have been directly involved. It is published at the beginning of June.

RCVS Facts, which forms part two of our annual report. It provides facts and figures on everything from the number of UK veterinary students, through the distribution of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses across the country, to our summary accounts. It is also published at the beginning of June.

The RCVS Register of Members, is required by the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and represents a key reference work for the veterinary profession in the UK. Not only does it provide a full alphabetical listing of RCVS members and fellows with their qualifications, but it also lists RCVS Honours and Awards, certificate and diploma holders, RCVS Recognised Specialists, along with lists of those employed in the veterinary schools and other organisations. It is published annually in November and available to purchase from the College.

The VN List and Register, which provides a full alphabetical listing of qualified veterinary nurses, including registered veterinary nurses (RVNs). Nurses listed within this document are entitled under Schedule 3 to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 to practise certain aspects of veterinary surgery under the direction of a registered veterinary surgeon.

The RCVS Guides to Professional Conduct (for veterinary surgeons and for veterinary nurses), set out the ethical code for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses and contain advice about professional behaviour, but do not prescribe rules. An app of the Code is also now available

RCVS Surveys of the Veterinary Professions (previously 'Manpower Surveys' - first commissioned in 1998) examine the profile of the veterinary and veterinary nursing professions and anticipate future trends. The most recent survey was published in 2010. A new one will be published in 2014.
