WATCH: Ed Miliband tries to scream like a death metal frontman. Doesn't succeed.

2 min read

Ed Miliband didn’t win the 2015 election - but he was a winner in the eyes of death metal fans today.

The former Labour leader talked about the alternative rock genre and even tried his hand at its growling vocal style as he presented the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 today.

Joined by Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway - singer of hit grindcore band Napalm Death - he spoke to metal fans and foes and played a few choice tracks by the band such as ‘Silence is Deafening’,

He also played ‘You Suffer But Why’ - the shortest song recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, clocking in at just one second.

“It’s a good lesson for politicians,” he said of the track’s title and asked ‘Barney’: “What gave you the inspiration?”

The image of the man who once expected to be the next Prime Minister bellowing into a BBC microphone has also been captured for posterity.

He received praise for the segment from another metal fan from the Labour party, Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon.
